Fees and Funding

Funding - Please note this is different than previous years

Grants from NASA, the Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium, the Eberly College of Science, the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, and other supporters provide all participants with the following:

  • Full tuition subsidy for a two credit, graduate-level workshop
  • Private room at The Atherton Hotel adjacent to Penn State
  • All materials and supplies for workshop activities
  • Educational materials to take back to your classroom
  • Thursday group dinner with other workshop participants

Workshop participants are responsible for the majority of their meals and all travel costs. If you would like support for travel expenses and meals, we are piloting a program this year called "spread the word" where the educator returns to their district to talk about the workshop with other educators in exchange for travel and meal support. More information about the program will be coming in January.

The Value

This is a pretty good deal, you should consider coming to attend one of the workshops! We provide tuition ($1360 in-state, $3552 out-of-state), fees ($102), housing ($450), materials and supplies (~$100), and classroom materials (~$200) per participant. You provide your own transportation to get to Penn State and you pay for meals while you're here.

Are you ready?

Great! Applications will open in early January 2010

Teachers walk the scale model of the solar system.

"Spending part of my summer at Penn State is one of the highlights of my year. The teacher workshops have opened my eyes to wonders of the universe that I never dreamed existed."
